Are You Shopping Safe Online?
Lowcountry comfort food, extended family, and TONS of shopping all mean one thing – the holidays are officially here. If you’re one of those who ditch the lines and prefer shopping online, we have a few safety reminders for you to keep in mind!
1. When using any sensitive, personal information online always remember to ‘look for the lock’. When a website is secure, the URL will begin with https, as opposed to http. Additionally, a secured site will have an image of a padlock beside the URL. If these basic security features are not in place, it is best to take your business elsewhere.
2. Do all of your online shopping from home. Not only will you be on a secure, private network, you will also keep any sensitive information on your personal computer.
3. Shop on sites that you know and trust. All major retailers have online stores – always go directly to these sites as opposed to navigating through search engines and other third party lines.
Happy Holidays and safe shopping!
